Looking for a creative way to use up all that candy from your trick-or-treating adventures this year? Throw your favorite leftover chocolate candy into these cookies for the perfect early November treat!
We had an epic Halloween fail this year. We hurried home from trick-or-treating with friends for Baby D’s first Halloween to make sure we were there for any trick-or-treaters we might have. We’ve mostly lived in apartments in our 6 years of marriage, so we’ve never had visitors on Halloween and were super excited about the prospect.
The house was all decorated and ready, but we only had 3 trick-or-treaters come to the door (one of which our little dog scared away with her ferocious bark). I bounced up and down with excitement all three times the doorbell rang, but was surprised that we didn’t have any more.
Then I remembered the “Baby Sleeping. Do NOT Ring the Doorbell!” sign on the door. Fail. I blame post-pregnancy brain and sleep deprivation. Oh well, there’s always next year…
So now we’re left with bags of untouched candy. I know–poor us… Can’t say that I’m too upset about it because these cookies are sooo good loaded with some of our leftover Reese’s, Kit Kats, and Hershey bars.
Ingredients:
1 cupbutter, softened
1 cupwhite sugar
1 cuppacked brown sugar
2 teaspoonsvanilla extract
3 cupsall-purpose flour
1 tspbaking soda
2 tsphot water
1/2 tspsalt
1/2 cupsemisweet chocolate chips
1-1 1/2 cups chopped chocolate candy (I used a couple of Hershey bars, 5-6 Reese’s, and 4-5 Kit Kats)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt.
Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and chopped candy.
Drop by medium-large spoonfuls onto Silpat or prepared baking sheet.
Bake for about 10-12 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are golden.
Hey there! I'm Vanessa, a Texas girl currently living in Alabama with my husband, our blue-eyed wild toddler boy and baby girl.
Here you'll find me exploring/trying to survive motherhood while sharing things I love....and I really LOVE food. My happy place is in my kitchen trying out new recipes with a candle lit, the lights down low and the perfect tunes playing in the background for our family dance parties.
Wanna pack some of those up and send them my way? 🙂 …they looks soooooo good!
