I am absolutely horrible with plants. Any plant of mine that lives more than a couple weeks should count itself extremely lucky. I try to keep them alive…really I do. I decided to try my luck with a couple of potted herbs (parsley and basil) when we settled into our new apartment on the East coast. I am happy to report that after a whole month they are both still alive and yielding more fresh herbs than I know what to do with.
This over abundance of parsley and basil is what led me to brave the mouse kitchen to try this new Basil Butter Garlic Bread recipe that I found on Two Peas & Their Pod. I didn’t follow the recipe exactly (mainly because I only needed a few slices), but this bread was amazing. All of those herbs on top give it a deceivingly healthy feel, but trust me it is well worth the calories.
Ingredients:
- Fresh Ciabatta Bread (I picked up a loaf from my favorite local bakery, Clear Flour Bread)
- Unsalted Butter, Melted
- Handful of Parsley & Basil
- 1 Clove Garlic, Minced
- Salt & Pepper
- Parmesan Cheese, Freshly Grated
Directions:
Slice the Ciabatta loaf in half
Chop Parsley and Basil
Mix melted butter, herbs, and minced garlic
Add a sprinkle of salt and pepper
Brush butter mixture onto bread
Bake at 400 degrees for 5 minutes
Remove from oven and top bread with parmesan
Bake for another 2 minutes
Serve & Enjoy!
